Anxiety is tough.
There are many remedies, both scientific and home based. One of our favourites to help with everyday anxieties is essential oils. Diffusing beautiful, natural scents and using rollers on both yourself and your kids is a great way to calm and relax. Aromatherapy as a practice has been around for thousands of years, first practised in China, India and Egypt.
Essentials Oils aren’t a cure all when it comes to health and wellness, and you shouldn’t rely on them to cure ailments. If something is really bothering you, please seek advice from a healthcare professional. Further on from that, here are some of our favourites.
- Lavender Oil
Perhaps the ultimate in beneficial essential oils, Lavender is our very favourite. Not only is it super soothing and calming, it's the perfect oil to burn or diffuse around bedtime to help yourself and your little ones sleep.
- Bergamot Oil
Fresh and citrusy and derived from oranges, Bergamot is invigorating and rejuvenating. This is a great oil for when you’re feeling overwhelmed at work and need to refocus.
- Jasmine Oil
Jasmine is a great oil to use to quell anxiety, without the sleep inducing effects of Lavender. It calms the nervous system and improves wellbeing.
- Patchouli Oil
Patchouli is a musky, earthy and ultimately calming scent that's been used for thousands of years. Anoint your wrists and behind the ears to ground and centre you during an anxious time.
- Peppermint Oil
An honourable mention goes to Peppermint Oil, not only because it smells divine, but because it’s a super rejuvenator and is essential for us when we or our kids have a cold. We love popping a drop in our hands and rubbing them together and inhaling it’s goodness to clear the sinuses.
