Our second week in Mexico was in the gorgeous Tulum. We couldn’t wait for a change of pace from Cancun and were looking forward to some serious beach time. We booked a little villa right on the beach. It was simple but beautiful, complete with a swinging hammock and a two second stroll to a private beach. We were set and could not wait to explore this little paradise in Mexico. Tulum Ruins This was our only day trip where we went to visit the Tulum Ruins, the only remaining ancient Mayan City. It was hot and I recommend getting there first thing in the morning. This place soon became overcrowded with busloads of tourists. While amazing to explore the crowds were off putting. Our boys loved spotting and watching all the wildlife, which became a bit of highlight for them. We did travel with a pram but if I did it again I would recommend carrying small bubs in a baby carrier for ease of getting around the crowds and the stairs. Cenote swimming We continued to explore cenotes that were within walking distance to our hotel. Beach swimming Most of this week consisted of morning walks and afternoon beach days. Our hotel had a private beach and we spent most days here at the beach. It was quiet and a safe place to be with the kids. Eat To be honest we never had a bad meal in Tulum. The food was seriously next level! Some of our favourite places to eat at were: Posada Margherita for great pizzas. The kids loved this place and was super close to our hotel, which also made it super convenient. Mateos Mexican Grill was amazing and super kid friendly. Stay We stayed at Posada-Lamar and I cannot fault this place. They were super helpful and we got a delicious breakfast delivered to our room every morning. It was a quiet oasis that we loved with the kids and the location could not have been more perfect. The service, the place and location would 100 per cent see us return to this little paradise. Transport We had heard lots of things about tourists being targeted by police and so were very nervous to hire a car. We found the idea of a driver an inexpensive and great way to get around. Due to our hotels location you could easily explore on foot or with a taxi.
Mexico had been one of my dream destinations for a long time. I had a pen pal growing up in Mexcio and studied Frida Kahlo. Mexico had long been on our dreamy travel list. Our USA and Mexico was an all in one hectic trip. These are my personal outtakes on the trip and travelling with a nine, seven and ten month old. To be honest when we started our research we found little on travelling with kids and in particular babies in Mexico. We had so many questions about the access into centos etc. So I am going to cover off some of the information that wasn't available when we started researching our trips. We have mentioned it before, but we plan all our trips well in advance and we pop a lot of time into researching and pre-booking everything. This is very different to the way we travelled prior to kids but we have also worked out that things run so much smoother when you put the legwork in before you hit the ground travelling with little ones. Playa Del Carmen was our first stop. We thought that this would be a good place to base ourselves for some of the places we had pin pointed that we wanted to visit. I am not going to lie, my first impressions of Playa Del Carmen we're not what I had expected. I was very surprised how 'touristy' this little Mexican town was. We decided not to stay at an all-inclusive resort, as we like to wander and find the hidden gems. However the all-inclusive resorts seems to be a must do when travelling with kids in Mexico. We booked 5 nights at the Hotel Magic Blue, which was a little Oasis right in the hub and opposite the COCO Bongo Nightclub. This hotel was the perfect hub to return to and enjoy a swing in a hammock, a swim and a margarita. For a family of five we had to have separate rooms which we didn't realise when booking. Our children are still young and so we weren’t able to have connecting rooms. It meant the adults had to join the kids in a room each which was not ideal. Day trips We booked our first day tour and to be honest after speaking to a lot of travel groups not many were keen to take on our whole family of 5. So we opted for a private taxi booked through our hotel. To be honest this ended up being the best option! Our driver was so good and we are thankful that he to also had a family and understood our needs. Chichen Itza Our first stop on our day tour was Chichen Itza. We arrived there early to beat both the heat and the crowds... and hot it was! We lasted two hours with the kids. Their amazement soon turned to 'it's so hot'. Walking around with a baby was next level. We were so grateful for the advice to make this our first stop and the umbrella that our driver had provided us with to block out the sun. Cenote swimming Next stop was Cenotes and this to is something we were all looking forward to, plus was our chance to cool off. A centoe is a natural pit, or sinkhole, resulting from the collapse of limestone bedrock that exposes groundwater underneath and they are spectacular with the clearest coldest water I have ever seen. Our first Cenote was nearly empty upon arrival. Our driver recommended that we go to the smaller cenotes to avoid the large crowds and bus groups. The water was super cold but so refreshing. Information regarding kids and particularly babies when visiting cenotes was limited when I began researching. While in Mexico we got to visit quite a few cenotes. Our baby was 10 months old and we were able to take her. We even did the cave diving, which I was super nervous about but she was amazing and embraced it all. The water is cold so after the initial shock she really loved the cold relief from our warm day tours. We did have a life jacket for her and recommend if you are travelling with smaller ones under 12 months to take your own fitted life jacket. But it was a highlight for our whole family to enjoy the cenotes. The walk to some is quite steep so we always had her in a baby carrier and held onto the walking rails. Again I want to stress this is something we felt comfortable doing with all our kids. They love the water and despite the super chilled temperature of the water, Coco loved every minute of it. I suggest to do whatever works with your kids but this was a favourite. Valladolid After cooling off we headed to Valladolid, a quaint brightly coloured Mexican town, for lunch. This beautiful little Mexican village is exactly what I had expected Mexico to be. We had wished that we had booked a couple of nights in this beautiful little place. We ate ice cream, visited a beautiful church and sat in the love seats. This day trip was a highlight for our little family, but it was a super big day of travel. We headed back to our hotel late with some yummy Fajitas. Coba Ruins Our other Day trip we did was Coba Ruins. This was a highlight and it was the ruins that our kids really enjoyed. We hired two bikes for our family of five, which made seeing and climbing the different ruins super achievable and also fun. The kids loved the pace of the bikes weaving in and around the leafy paths. They also enjoyed climbing one of the ruins, which had me shaking in my boots. Going up not so bad but the coming down. While in Playa Del Carmen we spaced our day trips with days by the pool and days to catch up on washing and work emails. We needed to slow the pace and our little one also caught hand foot and mouth, which also meant minimal sleep over this period. We loved the pace of Playa Del Carmen the Mexican food off the beaten track was amazing. It was certainly a great place to base yourself for day trips. If I had my time again I would reduce the 5 days to two days and head straight to Tulum, which was our next stop and a welcomed change of pace that we loved. Must see day trips Coba Ruins Cenote swimming Chichen Itza Valladolid We didn’t get there but was on our wish list was a day visit to Xcaret Eco Archaeological Park Eat We found some quaint little places off the beaten track that served delicious Mexican food. Stay Hotel Magic Blue - buffer breakfast was incredible as where there margaritas . The staff where super friendly and incredibly helpful . Transport We had heard lots of things about tourists being targeted by police and so were very nervous to hire a car. We found the idea of a driver and inexpensive and great way to get around. He was also able to show us some hidden spots for our family to enjoy and we could not recommended this experience more.
Newrybar is a delightful quaint little village located just outside of Bungalow, NSW. This picturesque village, while small in size, is big in impact. We hope you are all loving our part one of our SS18 collection. We have included many new knitwear shapes to our collection for your little ones. After a quick poll last week we discovered that you would like to hear some of our travel stories. For anyone that knows, family travel is a big priority and we consciously make decisions according to the family budget and time each year that we set aside for travel. We travel frequently with the kids and only with the kids so we have made a conscious decision to share some of our favourite places that we have visited and where we have stayed over the many years. One of the first places we thought we would share with you was our Trip to Yosemite park. We had heard a lot about this beautiful park and after a whole 8-hour detour due to road closure, we finally arrived at Yosemite. We arrived very late at night due to our detour, but the sounds, the chill and the fresh air all instantly get you excited for a few days exploring this part of the world. Our first day we woke to a roaring river that was both beautiful and in full roaring mode you could feel the spray on your face. We had done a food shop prior to arriving at the park and were armed with picnic food for the three days. We had been warned that the food options were limited – so the picnic option gave us more time exploring the parks as we only had three days in this beautiful part of the world. The park was huge and we ventured on quite a few of the walking trails and explored so many of the different falls over the three days. Upon leaving we found fields of snow and were so excited to pull over and explore. If they get the chance, our boys still talk about our visit to Yosemite. It really was nice to slow the pace on our American Road trip and take three days to walk and explore. STAY Yosemite View Lodge Although the interiors where dated it was clean, breakfast was amazing and our kids loved the indoor pool after a day out exploring the parks. We also loved that they had washing machines and dryers that we could catch up on some washing without eating into our American Road trip itinerary. EAT We ate at the hotel and we also did a shop at a wholefoods store prior to arriving. This allowed us to have picnic food for the three days. Exploring the park at your own pace allowed for you to stop as you please at some stunning picnic places. SEE We only scratched the surface of Yosemite but there are so many places to walk, sit by the lake to take in the scenery and just explore the area. There really was so much to do and we enjoyed using this part of our trip to let the boys run and explore.
My favourite time of the year is the school holidays. I'm not sure about you but since our boys have hit school age it feels like time travels faster then ever before. We always make the most of the school holidays. Being a business owner, life can sometimes be crazy. Holiday time slows the pace and gives us the time to really unplug and enjoy the company of our kids. With the holidays emerging I always find that our kids run low on clothes that actually fit. School holidays often mean some kind of clothing shopping or wearing their latest pants as three quarters (whoops). With our sizes now going up to size 5 years, our clothing is both stylish and practical and make the perfect winter staples. With a great range of styles and colours, there's sure to be something in our collection your little one will love and wear time and time again. Made from natural fibres our clothing wears and washes well and not to mention are super comfortable as the fabric breathes. See our picks for holiday outfits below. We recently had the opportunity to have a short stay in Noosa. We had long been told that it was the perfect family holiday and to be honest this place did not disappoint. Located 90 minute drive north of Brisbane on the Sunshine Coast, Noosa is home to some of the best beaches in Queensland. In 2017 Noosa was rated in the top three beaches in the South Pacific by the TripAdvisor Traveller’s Choice Awards. These postcard perfect beaches surrounded by tropical forests are the ideal place for families with their blue, transparent, calm waters and perfect white soft sand. Our stay was short and it was more like a taster - but no doubt we will be back again with our family. See below some of our favourite things to do The Coastal Track Noosa has so many great walking trails. The kids were always up with the early sunrises, so we used the opportunity to walk some of the beautiful costal tracks. Hasting Street Whilst it might not be kid heaven, it was shopping heaven. A great place to grab a coffee or smoothie post walking, and to browse all the gorgeous shops. One particular homeware store was Signature on Hastings, which we adored! Fish and Chips on the River Our pick for Fish and Chips was the Red Emperor Fish & Chips, which had the most beautiful fresh seafood. Great to get takeaway and head down to the river for a relaxed bite to eat, plus the kids can burn off the last of their energy. Gelato Our nearly 9 and 6 year old claimed that Noosa had the 'best gelato ever'. This was a big call considering these guys have had the real deal in Italy. Their favourite ice-cream ever was Massimo's Gelateria, situated on Hasting Street. Be sure to treat the kids (and yourselves) to this delicious treat! We are so glad we finally got to visit a place that has been long loved by fellow friends and families and I have to say it did not disappoint. If you have been thinking about taking a trip with the kids don't wait as there are so many fun memories to be made. Rebecca x HOLIDAY ESSENTIALS 1. Leopard Print Fringe Pre Walkers | 2. Whilst we where away on our sourcing trip in January it also gave us time to reflect and look at things that we would both like to do in the business and areas that needed attention. Our La de dah kids blog was something that lacked serious attention in 2014 .We have some great plans to make this place more of a lifestyle blog for all things kids and that includes a subject we are super passionate about which is travel . If you have a topic you would like to see featured on the blog we would love to hear from you ?Travel has always been a huge passion both before kids and also now we have kids . Travelling with kids now brings a whole new dimension to travel . Seeing the world through our little ones eyes is one of the most rewarding experiences. Our stop in India was 90 % work so our tourist tips will be limited however we did mange to fit a little site seeing in while we spent the week in India . We travelled with both our boys one aged 6 and one who turned 4 the day before we left- so our travel tips are relevant to these age groups.Hopefully we inspire you to take the adventure with your kids - enjoy ! Places to stay :We stayed at the Crowne Plaza : New Delhi Rohini we cannot recommend this place enough . The selection for breakfast was great . The rooms spacious and very comfortable.Places to eat :Due to our tight timescale we ate mostly with our suppliers families and within our hotel due to tired kids from a full day of activities . Transport :We had a driver which we strongly recommend . We found this a great way to get around with kids and within a tight time frame which we had . But be prepared for traffic and lots of it . Short distances can take hours - but the country side viewing and animal spotting ( camels, monkeys , elephants ) makes driving in India an exciting adventure for the little and big kids.Place to visit :Delhi - we had a city tour with our driver in which we where lucky to have a taste of the sights . Our time in Delhi was super limited and with many road closures due to President Obama visiting it made it tricky getting from place to place .We visited the India gate and Chandni Chowk.Jaipur - So many exciting things to do and visit in Jaipur . One of the Highlights for us was the Amber fort . We had an elephant ride up to the fort with the Kids and they loved it! - It was a real highlight. The kids loved exploring the Fort the small passage ways and stair cases in the fort was a big adventure of hide and seek . The kids also got to see monkeys and a snake charmer which was high on their list to do and see why we visited India .
