That fresh warm spicy scent is irresistible, and don't even get me started on that melting butter! Whether its fruit or chocolate you like, you can't go past a classic Hot Cross Bun at Easter time! Below we've put together a recipe for you to try out. Simple and quick, these are sure to be a hit! Enjoy! (we know we will!) Recipe for Fruit Hot Cross Buns (fruit optional, extra butter necessary) Makes 12 Prep time 2.25 hours Cooking time 25 minutes Bun Ingredients 4 cups plain flour / 14g dried yeast / 1/4 cup caster sugar / 1 1/2 teaspoons mixed spice / pinch of salt / 1 1/2 cups currants / 40g butter / 300ml milk / 2 eggs, lightly beaten Flour Paste 1/2 cup plain flour / 4 to 5 tablespoons water Glaze 1/3 cup water / 2 tablespoons caster sugar Method Preheat oven to 190°C or 170˚C fan-force. Combine flour, yeast, sugar, mixed spice, salt and currants in a large bowl. Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add milk. Heat for 1 minute, until lukewarm. Add milk mixture and eggs to the currant mixture. Stir until mixture combines. Turn dough out onto a floured surface. Knead for 10 minutes, or until dough is smooth. Place into a lightly oiled bowl. Cover with plastic wrap. Set aside in a warm, draught-free place for 1 to 1 1/2 hours, or until dough doubles in size. Line a large baking tray with non-stick baking paper. Punch dough down to its original size. Knead for 30 seconds on a lightly floured surface until smooth. Divide into 12 even portions. Shape each portion into a ball. Place balls onto lined tray, about 1cm apart. Cover with plastic wrap. Set aside in a warm, draught-free place for 30 minutes, or until buns double in size. Flour paste: Mix flour and water together in a small bowl until smooth, adding more water if paste is too thick. Spoon it into a small snap-lock bag. Snip off 1 corner of bag. Pipe flour paste over tops of buns to form crosses. Bake the buns for 20 to 25 minutes, or until buns are cooked through. Glaze: Place water and sugar into a small saucepan over low heat. Stir until sugar dissolves. Bring to the boil. Boil for 3-4 minutes. Brush warm glaze over warm hot cross buns. Serve warm with butter. Daylesford is one of our favourite cooler weather escapes. There is something about the gorgeous, rolling green paddocks and changing colours, that has autumn in Daylesford one of our favourite local places to visit. Just over an hour from home it is a great weekend getaway to reconnect / relax and enjoy just being together. We love it as a family getaway, as a couple or as a weekend getaway with good friends. We have traced our steps over the weekend and we hope it takes you on a journey to visit somewhere local and recharge the batteries. Friday night spent at the Farmers Arms Pub on the outskirts of Daylesford. A big hearty home-style meal is what we needed after a long day at work, and after the hours drive. Timber tabletops and ivy covered brick walls, made me feel like I was in the English countryside. Bustling crowds filled the old restaurant for weekly raffle night. Our boys were ecstatic about the prizes and the raffle build up, and the provided colouring books and pencils Which kept the boys very entertained whilst we waited our meals. Spent the morning walking around the lake after a late breakfast. Our boys loved the walk and got to chase the ducks and skim pebbles into to the lake as I sat and enjoyed the scenery. Watching the leaves change as autumn is beginning. Those autumn hue of brown and orange were beautiful in Daylesford and were definitely a highlight. Lunchtime took us on to the gorgeous little Village of Trentham if you haven’t visited before pop this on your must visit list. Trentham is a short 20 minute drive and a must visit from Daylesford . A must visit for any foodie if you want the most delicious irresistible bread you have ever eaten, then Redbeard Bakery is for you. Famous for their sourdough bread and I can see why. Our Family were huge fans of the sourdough and our kids were left asking for more. They have all different types of bread to choose from depending on your preference, from rye to fruit to classic white. If you want something sweet they do scones and jam, and chutneys too. All paired with a cup of tea or coffee. We have already decided that we will be coming back just to have some more of their bread with butter. Redbeard also do classes on how to make their famous sourdough bread, trust me this is on our bucket list now, and it should be on yours too. The afternoon saw us kicking back at our house rental enjoying the afternoon sun whilst the kids kicked a soccer ball. Sunday saw us strolling through the Sunday morning markets – which happen every Sunday by the railway station in Daylesford the market features a lot of Bric A Brac and is a must visit for any Vintage Lover. Also high on our must visit list where the gorgeous stores of Bromely and Co (This is the place to come for art, so many beautiful curated pieces). Our second must visit was Harry and Me who also happen to be one of our Miann and Co stockists. Whilst there kids section is very small it is a beautiful store with so many great Australian Designers. In True Sunday style the afternoon is when I got to check out Peppers Mineral Day Spa. As you drive up the stone driveway, this massive old building takes your breath away. The lush greenery of the hedges frames this building and you feel instant calm. The massage I had was magical, almost falling asleep to the sound of absolute peace and quiet. Peppers have so much more than just massages to offer. They do twilight spas, bathing by the stars. A mineral water plunge pool at a stunning 37 degrees to soothe the muscles. The ultimate tranquil retreat. 1. Natural Knit Beanie / 2. Fergus Fox / 3. Navy Knit Cardigan / 4. You and Me T Shirt / 5. We'd like to introduce to you the newest members to our Miann & Co family. We have a whole range of friendly faces we know your little one will love and adore. Nellie Narwhal is one of the most magical creatures of mythology. Unique, romantic, and resilient, Nellie Narwhal is capable of achieving great things. Narwhals typically have a calm and care-free exterior, but inside they are bursting with ideas, passion, and a drive for success. The warm nature of these animals make for the perfect companion. Ned Bunny is a very studious bunny. When it comes to study, he is super disciplined. Ned loves to study because he loves to learn. Learning makes Ned one happy bunny. A new book is like a wrapped present to Ned and he has a constant quest for knowledge. Paddy Polar Bear is an intense and serious bear. Paddy Polar Bear is trying to make sense of his world. Being a Polar Bear, he enjoys solitary interests that require precision and skill rather than team games and hobbies. Paddy Polar Bear values routine and structure and likes to learn by being shown the right way to do things. He is keen to research and gain knowledge on subjects in detail, often becoming an expert in all the things that he learns. Fergus is the latest to join our growing Fox clan. Fergus prefers the arctic and he loves to play. Fergus is affectionate with those with whom he feels comfortable. Be sure to keep this little guy close for some lasting memories. Flamboyance is usually not Felix fox's style, preferring to remain inconspicuous in choose subtlety and cunning over brute strength. He lives in a small, cozy environment and his house is usually organised and neat. As a hunter personality, Felix fox is in good physical shape and enjoys sports that challenge his mind and body. Oakley Owl loves to burn the midnight oil - he is one night owl. Oakley, like his sister, is wise beyond his years and will never say no to mischievous fun with his sister Olive Owl. Sebastian Sloth is a slow mover like his relative Seth Sloth, as he to also likes to conserve his energy for all of those big adventures he will be taken on. Sebastian Sloth also has a very loving nature; but is a little bit more flamboyant with his navy and white stripe external base. Be sure to keep this little guy well rested as he makes the greatest of companions. Sylvie Ballerina is slightly different to her other Bunny friends. Unlike her quiet bunny friends - Sylvie loves to take the centre stage and twirl and jump til her little legs allow no longer. Sylvie is the perfect little Miss for any aspiring ballerina. Marlo Bunny is a small, gentle bunny with a tendency towards shyness and whose instinct is to run at the first sign of danger. His extraordinarily acute senses are well-developed and always on the lookout for any impending peril. Marlo is astoundingly cute and relies heavily on his soft personalities and vulnerable appearance to succeed. Parker Penguin is deceptively intelligent and is particularly animated when he is challenged. Parker excels at word games and puzzles but is modest about his abilities and is generally underestimated by others. Parker is sure to be a friend of an animated character. Ahh, donuts! Walter has an unrelenting sweet tooth and a weakness for home cooking, and although Walter Walrus may seem comfortable with his roly-poly physique one shouldn't overdo the teasing. Underneath his thick skin is a surprisingly sensitive spirit. But still, it's difficult to embarrass Walter Walrus. When Walter is around nothing in life is taken so seriously that it cannot be laughed at. His infectious love for life contaminates everyone who has encounters with this hearty beast making him the perfect companion for your little one . // Who's your new favourite? x

Goodbye La De Dah Kids. WELL, NOT EXACTLY GOODBYE. Today is the day to FINALLY share something that has been in the works for almost 18 months. It’s time to say goodbye to #Ladedahkids! . However ,don’t panic we are not GOING ANYWHERE !!! Nearly 5 years ago when we started this business we had no idea about the things that would come. It is a family business that we would love to expand and grow; we want to take the brand to exciting new places . It’s a brand that we want to be remembered not just for kids products but our lifestyle products. Products that are ethically produced, well designed and created. Products and keepsakes that family memories are part of. We want our business to be a household name, one that is not just for the kids ,but the whole family. These coming weeks are a whole new adventure for both us and the brand. Not only are we changing our name, but also we are launching our first baby knit range. Something we have been working on for some time. We hope to expand on this and not just for the little ones. We have big plans for this new direction and we hope that you all join us on our new adventure. For almost 3 years now we have been running two businesses separate under two different websites (www.ladedahkids.com.au) (www.shelter7.com.au) The time has come to merge the two and roll it in to one project that we can really sink our teeth into. In the wee hours of the night in the coming week, we'll be swapping over domains and social media accounts, our web designers will be updating redirects, and we will be biting our nails and crossing all our fingers and toes. All things La De Dah kids (Insta, Facebook, Twitter, plus the site) will direct you to our new name automatically (we're not telling you our new name quite yet. We love surprises )Our direct ticketing/ labeling will have some cross over with a gradual change. Once everything is officially rebranded, we'll be sharing the story behind the new name, where we hope to see our brand in the next five years, plus some sneak peeks of the new lifestyle products that we are launching in the coming months!
Recently we've had a lot of mums asking for a styled girls room that's 'not so pink.' You asked...we have answered! Mixing blues, greys and blacks with a touch of pink really creates a room that's not so girly. Combining textures including crochet, velvet and quilt adds interest and fun to the room. We've created two combos for you to shop and try out in your own home!
